Peterborough United chief demands better from his management team and players after ‘c**p’ performance

Peterborough United co-owner Darragh MacAnthony says any more of the ‘c**p’ he witnessed at Shrewsbury yesterday (January 30) and his club can forget promotion from League One.

MacAnthony insists the players and the management must do better after a seven-game unbeaten run in League One came to a timid end with a 2-0 defeat at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.

Posh are now fourth in League One, just past the midway point of the season.

“We can’t afford many more performances like that one,” MacAnthony said. “There were no positives at all. We were not good. We just weren’t at the races. We were nowhere near it from players to management.

“The players have to do better, the management has to do better and we all have to do better.

“Fair play to Shrewsbury who outworked us and outbattled us and deserved to win, but we have to win at places like that if we want promotion.

“We need to bounce back quickly. It’s important we go on a run of wins as that sort of ‘c**p isn’t good enough and isn’t going to get us promoted.”

MacAnthony is due to return to the United States today (January 31).
