Many Posh fans reacted with shock and horror as an eight-game unbeaten run in League One came to an end in limp fashion at Crewe on Saturday.

Posh were beaten 2-0 at Gresty Road, but still lead the League One table ahead of home games against Blackpool on Saturday (November 21) and Plymouth on Tuesday, November 24.

Beevers accepts Posh performed well below their normal standards at Crewe, but he has refused to get too downbeat.

Posh have followed both of their previous League One defeats this season with victories.

“It’s a long old season and we were bound to lose at some stage,” Beevers said. “It’s now all about bouncing back on Saturday and that’s what we will try to do. We’ve put it right straight after defeats previously this season.

“Crewe are a good side who played well on the day and we didn’t play well at all. That happens in football.

“Every game is a challenge as teams play in different ways, but there’s a reason why we are where we are in the table. We’ve worked fantastically hard and won at some tough places like Wigan and Hull in the same week.

“We didn’t get too high after those wins though and we won’t get too low when we lose. We hit a bump in the road at Crewe and hopefully it’s only a minor blip. Seasons are always roller coasters and we have the experience and knowhow to deal with the ups and downs.

“It’s easy to look at fixtures and think we should get a win there or we’d be happy with a draw against them, but football doesn’t work like that. It often depends on which team turns up.

“As players we just look at every game as winnable and we’re happy to bet back at home for a couple of games. If we can keep our unbeaten run at home going and keep nicking wins away from home we will be in a good place at the end of the season.”

Posh have won four of their five League One home matches so far this season. They haven’t lost at home in 2020.
