Peterborough United boss seeking some home comforts

Peterborough United boss Luke Williams hopes home form can propel Peterborough United up the League One table.

Posh host Stevenage at the Weston Homes Stadium on Tuesday (7.45pm kick off), the first of three home outings in four matches. Posh, who are 18th, have won their only home game of the season so far, 2-1 over Mansfield Town.

New central defensive signing Josh Feeney is available to play tomorrow, but teenage forward Vernon Masara is unavailable because of a knee injury that isn’t thought to be overly-serious.

Posh are seeking to bounce back after a 4-0 drubbing at Blackpool on Saturday.

"We have some home games coming up close together now,” Williams said. “And that’s a big positive for us. We love playing at home and we want to deliver some exciting performances and some wins.

“It was quite confusing at Blackpool. Afterwards I felt like i’d lost a tenner and found a fiver. We let ourselves down in certain aspects of the game, but in other aspects we looked comfortable and did well.

"In between the penalty areas we did a lot of good things like regaining possession high up the pitch, but we let ourselves down with our defending in our own box. If you do that against teams with quality you will be punished and we were. We are fortunate to have another game straight away.

“Josh Feeney is a talented guy, a proper defender who will help with our build up play so we are pleased to have him on board.

"Stevenage are always very competitive. They will bring a high energy game and they will be physical. I’ve said before I want us to be tougher and tomorrow will be a good test of that.

“They were two close games against Stevenage last season and we lost them both narrowly. We know what to expect.”

After the Stevenage game Posh host Sheffield Wednesday in a televised early kick off on Saturday (September 5, 12.30pm). Posh then travel to MK Dons on September 12 before entertaining Doncaster Rovers on September 19.
