Hunt, who has signed a new two-year deal, began his hockey career with a stint in Slough, before joining the Phantoms’ junior set up in 2015/16. He scored 53 points in 26 games that season, where he iced for both the U15 and U18 Phantoms’ teams.

He continued to develop and score points on a regular basis throughout the rest of his junior career and made his Phantoms debut in the 2017/18 season.

2018/19 was Hunt’s breakthrough season in Phantoms colours, as his high energy performances won over the club’s fans in no time. In 2019/20, he was hampered by injuries, but picked up 11 points in 37 matches, including a hat-trick against Leeds in October.

His performances last season earned him both the Phanforce Development Player of the Year and the Phantoms’ Young Player of the Year.

Jarvis said: “I’m really pleased to have signed for another two years in Peterborough. I can’t wait to get started with my teammates and look forward to working with (coach) Slava Koulikov again. We have an amazing fanbase and they will be seeing some great hockey next year!”

Koulikov was also pleased to see Jarvis return to the Phantoms’ line-up: “Jarvis is a young, hungry player who wants to improve every day,” Koulikov stated. “And I have been really pleased with his transition and progression from junior to senior hockey in the last year.

“Early in the season, when Corey McEwen was out for six weeks with an injury, we had to change our lines with Jarvis stepping up into a top nine position. I thought he did a good job and took his chance really well. He’s a strong kid who skates well and has a good shot. He also is not afraid to play the physical game and fans got excited last season with some big hits.

“This will be Jarvis’ third year with us and I believe with a lot of hard work and commitment this summer, he can cement a regular spot in the line-up, and I am looking forward to be working with him again.”
