MK Dons boss baffled by the final scoreline against clinical Peterborough United

MK Dons manager Russell Martin insisted the scoreline didn’t reflect the pattern of the game after his side were well beaten 3-0 by Peterborough United at the Weston Homes Stadium today (January 16).

Two goals from Sammie Szmodics and another from Jonson Clarke-Harris secured the points for Posh as MK failed to make a reported 65% count.

Martin, a former Posh promotion winner as a player, saw his pre-match plans disrupted by the absence of experienced defender Rchard Keogh who is in transfer talks with a Championship club.

Martin did accept the Posh finishing was clinical. He told the MK Citizen: ‘It’s a strange one, I don’t think it was a 3-0 game, We limited them, but when we did give them something they punished us.

“I’m disappointed with the way we started the game, disappointed with the goals, but I think we had an outstanding performance from Ben Gladwin and some other good performances. It’s nowhere near the most disappointing performance but it is the most disappointing scoreline.

“There was a lot which disrupted us, with no Richard Keogh, Andrew Surman came off early, Warren O’Hora wasn’t quite fit enough either.”
