Midfielder Archie Collins believes the biggest battle for Peterborough United this season will be with themselves.

Posh are determined to make up for a poor performance in Saturday’s 2-2 home draw with Wycombe Wanderers by winning their League One game at out-of-form Port Vale on Tuesday (7.45pm).

And Collins doesn’t care how they do it.

"We knew what was coming on Saturday,” Collins told the Posh Plus service. “And we planned for it, but we didn’t show the necessary patience against a team who admittedly made it very difficult for us so credit to them for that.

"It turned into a battle and we rode our luck at times. We showed what we can do when we cut through them with our second goal, but we didn’t do that enough.

"Our biggest battle though is with ourselves. We need to have complete belief in what we are trying to do. We all need to buy into how we play and if we do that the consistency will come.

"It is hard to keep on producing good performances game after game so sometimes we will have grind out results. There are different ways to win. We have to show grit and determination to swing the result our way.

"From my own point of view I’m just focussing on my football and trying to produce performances which help the team.

"We have a tough game at Port Vale now. I’ve played there a few times and it’s a massive pitch which should suit us to some extent.”

Collins (24) is an ever-present for Posh in League One this season. He has been one caution away from a suspension for the last three matches.

Vale have picked up just point from their last four League One games and haven’t scored in any of them.
