Marcus Maddison now ruled out of Peterborough United return

Charlton Athletic expect to have three key players back for tomorrow’s League One clash against Posh at the Weston Homes Stadium (January 19, 6.30pm), but Marcus Maddison isn’t among them.

The Addicks should welcome back skipper and central defender Jason Pearce, midfielder Andrew Shinne and experienced midfielder Darren Pratley, but Maddison’s ankle injury will keep him out of the visitors’ squad according to a report in the South London Press.

Maddison has started just six games for Charlton since signing as a free agent on October 1. He picked up an ankle injury in the recent 2-0 defeat at home to Accrington Stanley.

Charlton will be without midfielder Albie Morgan after his red card in Saturday’s 1-0 win at Bristol Rovers. That was Charlton’s first clean sheet in nine games.

Charlton are sixth, level on points with fifth-placed Posh, having played two more games.

Posh are expected to have a full squad to select from. Defender Nathan Thompson is available after serving a one-match ban.
