Mansfield Town boss felt his side deserved a point from their trip to Peterborough United
Mansfield Town boss Nigel Cough felt his side deserved a least a point from their Saturday League One trip to Peterborough United.
Posh beat ‘The Stags’ 2-1 at the Weston Homes Stadium courtesy of an injury time winner from Harry Leonard after a terrific burst into the penalty area from substitute Bolu Shofowoke. Ben Woods had earlier seen his opening goal cancelled out by Michael Smith.

Clough felt there was some good fortune with both Posh goals, but also blamed his side’s lack of attacking quality for Mansfield’s defeat.
“We deserved at least a point over the course of the 90 minutes,” Clough told BBC radio. “We were very good in the first-half and controlled the game. They had more control in the second-half, but we shouldn’t have lost this game.
"There was an element of fortune about both of their goals. We got good blocks in on the initial shots and each time the ball rebounded kindly for them to score. That won’t happen every week.
"We should have scored in the second minute and we had enough good situations down our right hand side to have scored goals in the first-half, but we couldn’t find the right pass at the right time. There was a lack of quality in the final third which we will have to address.
"We scored a very good goal and the one we had disallowed just before that was a very tight offside call.
“It was disappointing to then lose the game so late, but we should have been tighter to their winger who shouldn’t have been allowed to turn away from the touchline. If necessary you bring him down before he reaches the penalty area, take the yellow card and then defend the free kick. You do what’s necessary to get a point at that stage of the game.”
