Peterborough United host surprise promotion contenders Luton Town in the Championship this evening (April 5).

Posh are set to be boosted by the return on Ronnie Edwards and Mark Beevers but have now fallen to eight points adrift of safety, with only seven games to go.

Luton, meanwhile, who operate on a similar budget to Posh, are flying high in fourth and looking for another win to move their impossible dream of reaching the Premier League a step closer.

LIVE: Posh vs Luton

Key Events

  • 7:45pm kick-off
  • Edwards and Beevers likely to return to the squad
  • Norburn ruled out with torn ACL
  • Morton returns to West Brom with shoulder injury
  • Luton could go third with a win

Posh spring a break after a long spell of Luton passing that goes nowhere. Ball played into space of the right by Poku for Knight to charge onto. Has to cross first time given the presence of the defender. Marriott flies in for the header but is just beaten to it. The rebound falls to Poku on the ege, drags the shot wide though.

Luton continuing to knock the ball long and ask the pacy wingbacks to get in behind Posh. Haven’t found the right weight of pass though as of yet. They’re starting to dominate the ball though, Posh not holding the ball up at all.

Jerome has to go off. Henri Lansbury on. Looks like he’s going to the base of the midfield. Campbell is pushing on. He looks a good runner, plenty of energy.

Now we’ve stopped for Jerome down right on the touchline. Obviously not thought about rolling 30cm to his left off the field.

Danny Hylton with the latest dive. Flops in front of Knight as the two go for a bouncing ball, ref not interested. Should be a yellow.

This game is going in spells. Lovely fotball from Posh, Kent, Fuchs, Edwards all involved before JCH slips Ward in on the right, He crosses low for Marriott. He digs out an effort but two sliding centre backs get the block in. That was a good opening.

Knet does well to win the corner that’s squng in by Burrows. The delivery has been good tonight but there’s far too many bodies between him and the goal for hom to get a clear effort on goal away.

Relief of pressure from Posh. Taylor finds himself with the ball in hte middle of the pitch, Luton back off and back off and eventually he just shoots. Shea has to scramble back and push it out for a corner.

Luton starting to get on top now, wuld fare better if there players stayed on their feet. Onyendinma wastes a good chance to take on Burrows in the box to try and look for a penalty.
