Dembele battles Pack in his own half and to his credit comes out with the ball, that allows Burrows to pick up and drive into a crossing position on the left. As he dribbles forward, JCH finds all kinds of space in the middle and is all alone. He needs to play a ball like the one Ward picked him out with Saturday but he doesn’t seem to spot him and plays a short pass to Knight in the middle and Morrison steps in to clear. A bit of a waste.

Posh moves break down after a wayward Thompson pass, as Bacuna flies down the wing to bring it forward on the counter, Flint, not for the first time, comes marauding all the way from CB to wait for the cross, Beevers heads it down but only as far as Ralls, who fires a wild shot over the bar and out of the ground.

First corner of the game for Cardiff, it’s a cutally a good ball in from Giles but noone attacks it, including the Posh defence and it’s allowed to bounce and roll out of play. Bacuna tries in vain to pick it up.

Dembele with a sumptuous pass into Burrows, who gets in between the two centre-backs, takes a touch and gets a shot away just on the egde of the box but it is dragged wide. Great play and a good opening.

JCH takes Pym’s goalkick out of the air really well, plays a first time pass to Dembele. He runs inside and picks out Ward on the right, he drives at Bagan and beats him again, he gets a cross in and it is bobbling around in the box before a Cardiff body get scramble it clear. Positive spell for Posh.

Best opening of the game so far for Posh, Joe Ward does well on the right to nip in and take the call off Bagan, he feeds Dembele, who manages to get away from his man. He gets his shot away early but the diving body of Morrison stops the effort.

JCH has a flash of inspiration, picks up the ball midway into the Cardiff half, breezes past one, then two and the chance opens up to shoot, like he did and nearly caught out Roos against Derby but he goes round the third man and into the box on the left, however, the ref gives the defender a soft free-kick. Unlucky.

First dangerous chance, Giles swings a cross into the centre circle area and Flint arrives there all the way from centre-back. It’s just over the bar, he got up above Beevers so well but couldn’t keep his header down.

Really good work from Thompson to shepherd the ball out of play as Bacuna tries to run past him and onto a throughball, gives him a shove into the advertising board for good measure.

Burrows plays a pass just behind Dembele as Posh try to come away and as a result Cardiff get the ball out wide quickly and throw in another cross. Thompson there this time. They have been good at picking up possession and get it straight out wide, Posh play not looking troubled though and just need to tidy up their passing in attacking areas.
