Peterborough United travel to the City Ground looking to improve their awful away record at a resurgent Nottingham Forest today (December 4, 3pm).

Posh are looking to avoid defeat on the road for only the second time this season and score a goal, after drawing a blank in their last four.

They wil be up against it though against a Forest side unbeaten in six, however, five of those have been draws and Forest only have the 22nd best home form in the league.

As mentioned, Forest’s from isn’t exactly as good as it sounds, the unbeaten in six headline is rather watered down by the fact it is with five draws in the list. They got a 0-0 with West Brom last time out, which seems the standard these days, oh how close Posh came to it. That being said, Posh didn’t face a 10-man Baggies for most the second half. Forest never really threatened the goal despite the man advantage.

Last 6:

Forest: DDWDDD

Posh: LDLLLD

QPR 1-1 Forest

Forest 1-1 Sheffield United

Forest 3-0 Preston

Reading 1-1 Forest

Forest 0-0 Luton

West Brom 0-0 Forest

Reasons to be optimistic?

I’ll try my best. The main one is Forest’s home record. They have taken just nine points from their ten matches. Scoring ten times, conceding 15. Their two wins came against Lancashire rivals Blackpool and Preston. Those wins account for half of their home goals tally.

They have improved markedly since Steve Cooper took over from Chris Hughton but seem to have a problem with killing off games. They are unbeaten in their last 6 but 5 of those have been draws. They have drawn their last two 0-0 aswell. Posh also drew their last game 0-0 and haven’t scored in any of their last four games. So 2 teams, that aren’t exactly familiar with the feeling of the ball hitting the back of the net. I mean, the way the away form has been going, even a 0- would be a massive step forward.

An early reminder, that rail strike may be called off but the services have not returned to normal. Please make sure you don’t miss kick-off!

Thomas Brammall is the man in the middle today. He took charge of Posh vs Cardiff in August. I can’t recall anything that stands out he did wrong, mind you. I have tried to erase the last 10 minutes of that game from my memory.

Another away day, another case of hoping this is the day something changes. It will one day, surely? At the very least, we can take solace in the fact this is the shortest away trip of the year. A full allocation of 2000 Posh fans in on its way, and it could have been so many more if Forest had allowed. Right here we will find out if they will be rewarded.
