LIVE BLOG: Fleetwood vs Posh

Last updated: Friday, 02 April, 2021, 17:01

  • 0-1 FT
  • Posh stay 2nd
  • Burns misses sitter right at the end of the first half
  • Thompson deflects Andrew effort onto the bar
  • Posh switch to back three late on to counter late Fleetwood pressure
  • Taylor and Dembele play half an hour off the bench

Fleetwood 0-1 Posh

That’s a massive win for Posh to dig that out. They looked to be struggling in open play but up steps JCH from a free-kick to blast into the bottom corner. The result is of extra importance because both Hull and Sunderland snatched late wins. No change at the top then but it keeps Pompey at bay as they make a charge for the automatics under the Cowleys.

BIG

What an effort from Butler on the edge of the box, that is arrowing into the top corner but Cairns flings out a hand.

Rossiter off and striker Barrie McKay and Posh bring on Hamilton for Reed.

Posh lead and it’s Jonson Clarke-Harris straight from a free-kick, into the bottom corner, he won himself. Emphasis on won as it didn’t look like a foul but Posh lead late on.

GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

1-0 POSH

Corner goes to Beevers but his header skies up in the air and I think Cairns may have got a touch first, it’s then cleared second attempt.

Good save from the keeper from Dembele 25 yard effort. Corner. Easy save though.

Good header out by JCH, Posh don’t break though as Thompson’s crossfield ball to Butler goes out of play.

Ball from Kent with far too much power on, well over JCH. Posh look to have shored things up with the tactical change. Mind you, Reed has just given away a foul deep in our own half.

Posh have switched to wingbacks now. There’s been some good moments on the ball but nothing has come off in the final third.

Posh break well with Dembele sprinting half of the field with the ball, he plays a well-weighted ball out wide to Ward but his cutback is so poor and behind everyone in the box it comes to nothing. The game has really opened up now, it’s there for either side to steal.

Andrew finds himself all alone on the right of the box, he shoots across goal and only Thompson’s diving block deflects it onto the bar. Fleetwood coming closer.

Finley and Garner replaced by Saunders and top scorer Camps, he likes a goal against Posh.
