Peterborough United must start winning as they host Blackburn in the Championship on Friday (April 15).

Victory could take Posh to six points from safety but defeat could see them effectively relegated with 12 points to make up in four games, with the worst goal difference in the league by a distance.

They may fancy their chances against a play-off chasing but out-of-form Blackburn side, who have won just one of their last seven games. They are boosted by the return of Ben Brereton-Diaz and Bradley Dack in recent weeks.

Blackburn sub 71 mins 0-0

Tyrhys Dolan on for Buckley.

Just what Posh needed, a cross-field ball from Knight fell nicely for JCH in the box but it’s almost like he doesn’t expect it and the ball bounces off his foot to the keeper.

Posh have effectively taken Szmodics out of the game with the move to behind the striker. They have created very little this half, less than when the sides were level.

Marriott tests the keeper for the first time, the angle always suits to keeper as Marriott shoot from the right of the box but it was a nice pass from Knight to fidn him.

One long ball over the top, Diaz runs off Edwards and drives a ball in towards Dack, cleared after a couple of deflections. A reminder of how Posh can’t swithc off.

Posh now seeing the ball more but largely just playing it infront of Blackburn and trying shots from range, lack the required penetration

Posh sub 60 mins 0-0

Marriott for Jones

Poku now sees a shot deflected over from a diving block. Corner.

Driving run from Kent, he’s invited forward, gets all the way into the box but then drags it back for Poku. Telegraphs where the shot is going though and it’s an easy save.

Giles fires in a bal over everyone but this really has been a poor start for Posh in this half. Blackburn have nrrowed the pitch and are asking Posh to go through the middle of them and break them down, not Posh’s strength.
