The 24 year-old joined ‘the Bees’ in a deal that could be worth up to £10 million to Posh yesterday (September 1) after two years at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Toney said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone at Posh for the last two years. I really felt at home there.

“They gave me the platform to get my career up and running again.

“Also a massive shout out to the fans because they stuck me even when things weren’t going so good.

“I wish everyone involved at the club all the best for the coming season and I hope they get promoted.”

Toney has signed a five-year contract with the Championship club.

He left Posh after scoring 49 goals in 94 appearances (77 starts). He was also credited with 17 goal assists and a barely believable 66 goal involvements (stats courtesy of Sam Edwards of BBC Radio Cambs).

But he’s looking forward to his new career.

“I’m happy to finally get the move over the line,” Toney told the official Brentford FC website. “It looks like a great new stadium and I can’t wait to play here

“The move should suit me. They play a very attacking style with lots of possession-based football and that should mean plenty of scoring chances for me.

“They should be in the Premier League already and hopefully I can now help them get there. Hopefully I’ll be the last piece of the puzzle.

“I wanted to go somewhere with great ambition and where I will play. I’m a winner and I’ll do whatever it takes to win a game. I’ll be aggressive in the right way.”

Toney made his Brentford debut in a 2-2 friendly draw with Oxford United in the Bees new Brentford Community Stadium. He didn’t score.
