Peterborough United lost in the Professional Development Under 21 League game for the third game in a row on Tuesday.

The younger Posh team has clearly picked up one bad habit from the senior side as one goal conceded quickly led to two more as hosts Hull City soared into a 3-0 lead six minutes before the break. Recent first-team debutant David Kamara pulled a goal back just before the break, but Hull claimed a fourth goal in the final minutes to complete a 4-1 win.

Circumstances dictated Posh sent a young side, but they competed well in the first quarter of the game with Noah Freeman just failing to hit the target with a back-post header from a deep free-kick.

But Hull opened the scoring in the 28th minute from a corner through George Dickenson and within 10 minutes they were 3-0 up with an own goal and a Tyrell Sellars-Fleming strike.

Kamara continued his fine scoring form by scoring from the edge of the Hull penalty area with a fierce left-foot shot, but that’s as good as it got for Posh who needed a terrific double-save from Will Blackmore to keep in touch until Sellars-Fleming claimed his second goal in the 89th minute to complete a sixth win on the spin for the home side.

Posh are now 8th of 11 teams in the Northern Division, but they have games in hand on most other teams. Posh host bottom club Wigan next Tuesday.

Posh: Blackmore, Freeman, Gbajumo, Sumnall, Mendonca, Campbell (sub Fox, 72 mins), Davies (sub McWilliams-Marcano, 76 mins), Young, Sykut, Kamara, Trialist (sub Changunda, 53 mins). Unused subs: Smith, Claxton.
