Football is driving Darragh mad, and the fans are getting restless: ‘you don’t get points for midfield possession, certain players are slow, greedy, poor leaders and not prepared to put their body on the line for the cause

Peterborough United co-owner Darragh MacAnthony admits football is currently driving him mad!

MacAnthony was a frustrated spectator in Dubai as Posh went down 2-1 at AFC Wimbledon despite dominating much of the game.

MacAnthony said: “We didn’t deserve to lose, but if you can’t finish and you can’t defend properly.., those two ingrediants are important for winning.

“Apart from that we were very good. I understand the fans will be upset and I didn’t turn my social media on after the game, but we will football games again. I don’t know when, but hopefully very soon.

Football can drive you mad sometimes.”

Posh fans also had their say on a fourth defeat in five matches as well as the season in general.

Aside from the horror miss Broom was very good. Quick, dynamic and direct

JCH still not on same wavelength as the other players especially other front two

Dembele lost the ball far too much because he was too focused on beating men rather than passing

Unbelievable work rate from Woodyard.

Peter Lloyd

Dembele probably plays too much FiFA computer football. Needs to get his head up more. Taylor is terrific, but soon will be snaffled by a Championship club. We will not be able to say no due to financial situation. Nobody seems to want to die for the cause.

@Rutlandspinner

Missed chances + sloppy defending = inevitable defeat.

@capper_mike

Dominated throughout but just lost it where it mattered. A lot less to put right than there was after games like Crewe an Blackpool.

Played okay, but couldnt finish our chances when we had them.

@Alexnelson2004

I’m still chuckling from hearing Fergie say we were good - except in both boxes! I wasn’t aware you get any points with midfield possession.

@ChrisMosley44

Beginning to look like a distinctly average squad with lack of pace and power in the final third. Broom is a poor addition and Beevers is a poor captain as he is no leader.

Far too much sideways passing. We have been lucky to win as many games as we have, we have not outplayed a team in any game.

Broom was okay, but his crossing was never going to be any good as none of them beat the first man. Dembele dribbles so much because nobody has told him not to. Taylor is the only shining light we have at the moment and he was too easily beaten for the opener.

@adi_mowles

It was 10 mins of utter rubbish, the other 80 was a big improvement on weekend.

@kevincook77

Butler not good enough, Beevers looking slower every game, Reece Brown looks like he’s stuck in mud, Broom isn’t a wing back, JCH fine for a mid table team. Apart from that...UTP!

@owenjhoward2

No Toney, no Knight and Szmodics having a dip in form. There was good hype for a few games but we haven’t exactly strengthened compared to last season.

@G_Forcellati

With Ivan Toney we were 6th. So without him were we likely to be much better?
