Darragh MacAnthony defends the lack of January signings by Posh and he’s backing Mo Eisa to come good
Fourth-placed Posh are the only team in the top half of the League One table not to make a January transfer window signing, much to the irritation of some of the club’s fans.

“I offered the manager two signings and he didn’t want one,” MacAnthony said. “He wants to work with the players we have and with the younger players at the club and I commend him for that. We had loads of players offered to us, but the manager didn’t want any of them.
“It’s the first time in my 15 years at the club we haven’t signed anyone in January, but we built a squad in the summer to last the season and now is the time to back the manager, the coaches and the players. I have full confidence and faith in them.

“I still expect a good promotion push. That’s always the goal for this club.”
MacAnthony remains confident under-employed striker Mo Eisa has a big part to play for the rest of this season. He was the subject of several January bids which were all rejected.

Hide AdEisa, the club record £1.2 million signing, hasn’t started a League One game since September 19 - the second game of the season and he was taken off at half-time - but is expected to start tomorrow’s (February 2) Papa John’s Trophy quarter-final at Tranmere.
Eisa has scored three goals this season, all of them in the Trophy.
“Mo has barely started a game this season,” MacAnthony added. “But he was in the top five of League One goalscorers last season. He is in good shape. We invested in him for goals and he will get them when/if needed.
“We also have an 18 year-old greyhound (Ricky-Jade Jones) and two other strikers in our Academy who are genuine top talents.”
