Blackpool boss Neil Critchley insisted his team thoroughly deserved their 2-1 League One win at Peterborough United today (November 21).

The visitors scored early, but missed several chances to go further clear and looked set to be punished when Frankie Kent equalised for Posh six minutes from time.

But Blackpool created one final chance in the 89th minute and Gary Madine made no mistake to make it three League One wins in a row for the Seasiders.

“To come here and play a Peterborough team that have got an excellent home record and the attacking threat they’ve got, we’ve limited them to nothing really.

“The one criticism is that we maybe should have gone two or three up and killed the game off, but the spirit of the players is fantastic and it has been all season. They give you absolutely everything.

“This is a big win for us.

“I was really crestfallen when they equalised.

“You know while it’s only 1-0 you know they only need one opportunity or one moment.

“Until that point we had limited them, I don’t think they produced one shot on target. To concede like that was really painful.

“But the spirit the players showed to go down the other end and the character to respond from that moment was excellent.

“They could have easily felt like ‘we’re not going to win this game’ but they’ve gone down the other end and created an opportunity that has won the game, which we deserved.”

Blackpool are 14th in the League One table, nine points behind second-placed Posh.
