Another backroom departure at Peterborough United as Women's team general manager leaves
There has been another backroom departure at Peterborough United.
Sam Winch, the general manager of Posh Women, left London Road on Saturday, a victim of a restructuring which has bought the ladies team under the control of the football club as a whole. Posh Women have been operating on a self-sufficient basis for the last two seasons.

Posh Women won National Midlands Division One last season and will play at the highest level in the club’s history in 2026-27.
A club statement read: ’Sam has done a fantastic job, culminating in last season's league triumph and this decision is in no way a reflection on him or the job he did in any way.
‘It is simply borne out of a desire to move the Women's team forward in a way we feel will benefit the club in both the short, medium and long term. Sam leaves with our gratitude and very best wishes and we wish him every success in the future.’
Winch released his own statement in which he revealed his frustration with the decision, but accepted the move has been made in the best interest of the club:
Winch said: “Following a Friday morning meeting with club directors it was decided the women’s and girls sections would now move fully under club control.
"While the decision was met personally with frustration I fully respect it has been made with the women’s and girls programmes at heart and I hope they continue to enjoy success.
"I am incredibly proud of what we achieved over the last two years. We successfully achieve against our objectives of the sections become successful and sustainable, while operating in a self sufficient manner.
"Those achievements include, two years of financial profit, promotion to tier 3 of the Women’s National League and increased attendances at PIMS Park.”
Posh have also seen physios Jon Chatfield and Deanne Goring, plus first-team kit manager Ryan Melton depart.
