Here I have selected a 3-4-1-2 formation which assumes Ronnie Edwards has left the club (and not been replaced) before Posh travel to Cheltenham Town for the first League One match of the season on Saturday, July 30.
A team in 4-3-3 formation will follow on Friday morning.
9. NUMBER 10 SAMMIE SZMODICS
Ben Thompson is also a contender for this role as are Joel Randall and Kwame Poke, but Szmodics wins my vote for his greater understanding of playing with the club's current attacking players. I expect double figure goals for Szmodics this season. Photo: Joe Dent
10. STRIKER JACK MARRIOTT
It's a front two so the most reliable finisher in the squad has to start. Photo: David Lowndes
11. STRIKER JONSON CLARKE-HARRIS
I'd be surprised if Clarke-Harris can reach 30 League One goals again (unless Posh win a lot of penalties), but he is apparently in great shape this summer and the way he finished last season suggests he wil be among the division's leading scorers, providing the service to him is good. 12. THE SUBSTITUTES
I've not selected any of the three new outfield signings for this starting XI, but Ben Thompson and David Ajiboye would be on my bench, along with Joel Randall (pictured), Kwame Poku, Dan Butler, Ricky-Jade Jones and goalkeeper Harvey Cartwright. Clubs can use five of seven names subs in League One this season. I haven't found a spot for new midfielder Hector Kyrpianou who is apparently one for the future. Photo: Joe Dent
