Here I have selected a 3-4-1-2 formation which assumes Ronnie Edwards has left the club (and not been replaced) before Posh travel to Cheltenham Town for the first League One match of the season on Saturday, July 30.
A team in 4-3-3 formation will follow on Friday morning.

5. RIGHT WING-BACK JOE WARD
Ward has the athleticism to get up and down the pitch in a wing-back position and he would create chances with his crossing. There would be defensive concerns, but it's a strong back three behind him. There is no other sensible alternative in the squad for this role even though Nathan Thompson and even Sammie Szmodics have played there. Photo: Joe Dent

6. LEFT WING-BACK HARRISON BURROWS
Yes I know Posh want to use Burrows further forward this season, but he's the best option for this position in this formation, although Joe Tomlinson could challenge him. In League One Burrows would probably do more attacking than defending anyway. Photo: Joe Dent/theposh.com

7. CENTRE-MIDFIELD JEANDO FUCHS
The tough-tackling midfielder should be a shoo-in for selection, even after Ollie Norburn returns from injury. Photo: Joe Dent

8. CENTRE-MIDFIELD JACK TAYLOR
I was a little disappointed with Taylor's form last season, but he's a proven performer at League One level. Ben Thompson's arrival means Posh appear well off for midfielders so form must be maintained to stay in the team in this position. Photo: Joe Dent
