Here, the Peterborough Telegraph takes a pictorial lookback at some of the biggest moments of a year that saw Posh finally win promotion out of League One, after eight years of trying and receive a harsh lesson in the challenges posed by being a Championship side.
These moments were captured through the lens of the PT’s David Lowndes and Posh’s Club Photographer Joe Dent.
9. Luton 3-0 Posh- 07-08-21
2021 will be remembered for being the year that Posh returned to the Championship after eight years away. The opening day at Luton, with fans, was a special moment. It was not the desired result though as Posh got an early lesson in the challenge that lay ahead. Photo: Photo: Joe Dent.
10. Posh 2-1 Derby- 14/08/21
Posh's first win back at Championship level was certainly a dramatic one. In front of the TV cameras aswell, Harrison Burrows and Siriki Dembele scored in stoppage time as Posh overturned a 1-0 deficit right at the death. Cue wild celebrations with a 100th minute winner. Photo: Photo: Joe Dent.
11. Hull 1-2 Posh- 20/10/21
Posh were 0 from six in away league matches as they headed to the KCOM in October. Signs of optimism on the road were few and far between but things were looking up when Taylor smashed a stunning long-range effort to give Posh the lead. Hull levelled and then missed a penalty to go ahead but Posh were able to find something and Dembele again was the hero as Posh ended their away curse. Still Posh's only away points to date. 12. Posh 2-1 QPR- 23/10/21
Where would Posh be without that man? This great shot captures the celebrations after another stoppage time winner from Dembele as Posh put together their first and only back-to-back wins of the season with victory against QPR. Photo: Photo: Joe Dent.
