Peterborough United striker excited about rewarding the club's brilliant fans

Posh broke a club record by starting a Football League season with seven unbeaten away games by winning 2-0 at Scunthorpe on Saturday (October 13). Godden scored both goals against the club that gave his first chance as a professional to take his tally for the season to 11.
Posh have now won six and drawn one of their seven away matches in League One this season and are scoring at average of three goals a game.

“It was a massive win for us at Scunthorpe,” Godden stated. “We were all hurting after losing badly at home to Barnsley.
“But we went back to what we do best at Scunthorpe and it paid off for us.
“It didn’t go to plan going forward in the first-half, but we defended solidly and after the break we started to cause havoc on the break with our pace.

“I’m paid to score goals and I’m a confident lad on that front. I know my job and a lot of my game is based around the six-yard box. I’m happier scoring from there than from 40 yards.
“My first goal was a bit lucky as Jason (Cummings) flicked it against the goalkeeper and it hit my knee and went it, while the goalkeeper helped me out with my second goal. I’ll take them both though.
“I have full respect for Scunthorpe. They gave me my first chance in professional football. They didn’t end up playing me much, but they were good about letting me go into non-league football with Ebbsfleet when they could have asked for a compensation fee.

“I’m sure no-one will care if we go up on the back of our away form, but we want to start performing better at home.”
