Peterborough Sports have been handed a tough trip to National League South outfit Bath City in the fourth round of the Buildbase FA Trophy.

Jimmy Dean's side booked their place in the last 32 with an impressive 3-2 win over Northern Premier League high-flyers Basford United on Saturday, and they now know they will be on the road in the next round on January 16.

They take on a Bath side who are managed by former Birmingham City, Northampton Town and Cheltenham Town defender Jerry Gill, and who booked their place in the hat with a thumping 4-0 win over Southern League Premier South side Swindon Supermarine.

The south west outfit have struggled a bit in the league so far this season though, as they currently sit in 17th place having won three and lost seven of their 10 fixtures to date.

"They are a really big club at the level, and it will be a really tough game," said Sports boss Dean.

"They are not flying in the league and I am sure they would like to be in better form going into it, and for them I suppose it is a good draw.

"But we will just go there and do what we do."

Sports play a step below Bath in the Southern League Premier Central, which has been shut down since the beginning of Novemer, with Sports not having played a league game since mid-October.

With the tighter Covid-19 Tier 4 restrictions being brought in at the weekend, no date has been set for a return to action, which is obviously not ideal for Dean or his players, who currently not even allowed to train.

"The problem we have got now is that we are not playing football, although having said we had that problem this time as well (for rounds one, two and three)," said the Sports boss.

"We got things right for those games, we got the friendlies right going into them, and it is just going to depend on what the rules are going to be."
