Peterborough Sports handed an exciting opening fixture and the start dates for the local leagues

Sports were top and Tamworth were second when the 2019-20 season was halted early last March.

Yaxley have been handed a tough opening game at Halesowen Town in Central Division One.

Stamford AFC (home to Glossop), Spalding United (home to Sutton Coldfield) and Wisbech Town (away to Leek Town) all learnt their opening fixtures in the South East Division of the Northern Premier League today.

The later start than normal will will mean multiple midweek games for clubs at these levels.

The United Counties League will start on Saturday, September 5, the same date as the Peterborough & District Football League. Some local UCL clubs are in FA Cup action on September 1 & 2.

The Peterborough Youth League and the Peterborough & District Junior Alliance League are expected to start on Sunday, September 20.

No date has yet been set for the Peterborough Sunday Morning League to kick off.

The Eastern Region Women’s League which involves Peterborough Northern Star opens on Sunday, September 6 with the Cambs Womens and Girls League due to kick off on the weekend of September 19/20.

The East Midlands Womens League which involves the Posh Ladies teams commences on September 27.

Posh will though travel to local opposition in Whittlesey Athletic Ladies in the first round of the Women’s FA Cup on September 6.
