Peterborough Sports are ready for some November fireworks as key men return to action

Peterborough Sports are ready to set off some November fireworks.

The city side got back on the winning track after their midweek blip with an impressive 4-2 win at Leamington on Saturday.

That win pushed them back up into the play-off places ahead of games at home to rock-bottom Stamford AFC next Saturday (November 7). The rest of the month sees sixth-placed Sports play at mid-table sides Redditch United and Halesowen Town before a mouthwatering home game with title fancies Bromsgrove Sporting.

The good news for Sports includes the return to action of key men Carl Mensah and Lewis Hilliard to add to a number of recent signings, most recently goalkeeper Dan Wilks. Maliq Cadogan and Luca Miller also re-appeared as second-half substitutes.

Sports boss Mark Ducket spoke to Peterborough Community Radio after the game. He said: “It was important to see us react in the right way after the defeat on Tuesday night and we did. The first half was very pleasing as we obliterated them to go 3-0 up with some exceptional finishes.

"We then thought the game was won and they pulled it back to 3-2 . We had to cope with a spell of pressure then before getting back on top. We defended very well in that spell, but we must learn to switch off in the dressing room after the game not at half-time no matter what the score is.

"But we could easily have won 6,7 or 8-2. We were that dominant in terms of possession. It helped having some big players back even if they were understandably tired by the end.

"It’s a huge game for the club next week, but we will treat it as just another home game when we will need to be strong. After a run of midweek games I’m looking forward to two good training sessions before that game.”

Sports did lose one of their goalscorers, Jevani Brown to a injury at half-time, while new striker Sydney Ibie pulled out before the game with a muscle issue.
