Goodwin’s departure came to light when a series of text messages - reportedly between Goodwin and Star co-owner Scott Steward - were posted on the club’s Twitter account yesterday.

The messages, which have now been deleted, but which the Peterborough Telegraph has stored, highlighted a strong disagreement over the standard of the first-team squad. Both parties claimed they were misled by each other.
