Peterborough Northern Star co-owner dismisses rumours re Seb Hayes returning to the club as a ‘total lie’

Peterborough Northern Star co-owner Scott Steward has branded suggestions the club have approached Seb Hayes to return to manage the club as ‘a total lie’.

Rumours have gathered pace in local football circles that Hayes has started to contact players with a view to building a squad to play in the United Counties Premier Division next season.

But Steward dismissed those rumours when approached by the Peterborough Telegraph today (July 11).

“It’s a total lie,” Steward said. “Scott Goodwin is my manager.”

Goodwin recently revealed health issues which included falling into a coma for seven days on social media.

He caused a stir when taking over as Star manager in the summer by releasing the entire 2019-20 squad of players. Star have so far revealed just three members of their 2020-21 squad.

Hayes has managed several local non-league clubs, most recently Wisbech Town. They parted company in December.
