Prolific local strikers Jamie Graham, Dwayne Rankin and Chris Brown have all joined the city club who kick off their competitive season at Crowland tomorrow morning (July 30, 10.30am), a game that features in the popular ‘ground-hopper’ series.

Former Boston United player Jay Mahoney has also signed on for the city side.

“We look a much stronger squad this season,” Ames enthused. “The lads we have picked up are quality.

“Chris, Dwayne and Jamie approached us. I didn’t even know they were available, but they are great signings.

“It’s a real coup for us to get players of that standard on board and I’d be disappointed if we didn’t cause a few upsets in the league this season.”

Graham has played at Spalding United and Deeping Rangers in his illustrious local career. Rankin was at Netherton last season.

Other Premier Division games this weekend see Thorney host Leverington tomorrow (4.30pm) with Sawtry entertaining Stilton in an A1 derby on Sunday (July 31, 2pm).

Admission is £4, but free for under 16s.

Eye United and Wittering are also hosting ‘ground-hopper’ matches over the weekend.

Langtoft won the Jack Hogg Memorial Trophy last Friday (July 22), beating Peterborough League Premier Division champions Moulton Harrox 2-1 with goals from Keeshan Wilson and Lewis Bradley.

New signing Marcus Parry, from Spalding Town, scored for Harrox.
