The dominant city side are 15 points clear of the field with 10 games remaining so six points from trips to Potton tonight (March 8) and ON Chenecks on Saturday (March 12) would virtually seaal a top two finish, thanks to a superior goal difference and the fact that Saturday’s opponents are currently second.

It won’t be easy though as Potton are also riding high in fourth place, but failure to make to 26 wins from 28 matches this week would still be merely delaying the inevitable.

March Town United can reach a cup final tonight when they host Haverhill Borough in a Thurlow Nunn Division One League Cup semi-final at the GER.

The Hares pulled off the shock of the competition in the previous round when they knocked out runaway league leaders Wivenhoe on penalties.

March have lost their last three Division One matches, but did win 5-1 at Haverhill in September.

Haverhill are currently ninth in Division One, three places and six points ahead of March.

Stowmarket host Halstead Town in the other semi final.

Holbeach United are in United Counties Premier Division action tomorrow (March 9) when tackling Boston Town at Carter’s Park. The Tigers till have an outside shot at the title, but more realistically they are chasing a top three finish.
