Non-league managerial departure as Peterborough Sports prepare for county cup semi-final, Deeping and Peterborough Northern Star also in action

Brett Whaley has resigned as manager of Eastern Counties Division One North promotion challengers March Town and is expected to join neighbours and rivals Wisbech Town.

Whaley, who was in his third spell as manager of March, resigned last night (February 3) with the Hares in fifth place.

Whaley’s assistant Aarran Duke was immediately installed as his successor.

Wisbech are currently bottom of the South East Division of the Northern Premier League and have been under the caretaker-management of Kev Ward since Seb Hayes left the club last year.

Whaley previously managed Wisbech in the 2015/16 season.

Peterborough Sports in Northants Senior Cup semi-final action at the Bee Arena tonight (February 4, 7.45pm) when daventry Town are the visitors.

Sports will start warm favourites to beat a team from a Southern League division below them, but Daventry did hold Division One Central leaders Corby Town to a draw at the weekend.

There is also United Counties Premier Division action for Deeping Rangers (at Boston Town) and Peterborough Northern Star (at Rothwell Corinthians) tonight.
