It’s now six games unbeaten for the in-form Fenmen who scored twice in the opning 22 minutes through Billy Smith and Ross Watson and held on for a 2-1 win after their hosts, who started, but didn’t finish, the day on the top of the table had pulled a goal back with a 70th-minute penalty.

Wisbech are slowly climbing the table. They are ninth now, but local bragging rights still belong to Holbeach United who have moved up to fourth after labouring to a 3-1 home win over bottom club Huntingdon.

Deeping Rangers are heading in the other direction - they are down to seventh - after wasting a fine comeback at Northampton Spencer. Deeping were 2-0 down at the break, but were level before the hour mark through an own goal and Scott Mooney’s excellent finish. Former Posh player Ryan Semple came close to winning the game for Deeping, but it was the hosts who stole away to grab a late winner.

Summer signing Phil Stebbing’s return to fitness has been a massive boost for Yaxley and he scored twice in the second-half to deliver a 2-0 win at Wellingborough Town, but it’s 11 games without a win for Peterborough Northern Star who went down 1-0 at Rothwell Corinthians.

A David Cobb volley after 37 minutes was enough to give runaway Division One leaders Peterborough Sports a 1-0 win in a scrappy game at Lutterworth, while Bourne are fifth after Zak Munton’s 18th goal of the season at Olney stretched their unbeaten run to four matches.

Stamford AFC, the masters of the ‘great escape’, are at it again in the Evo Stik Northern Premier Division. The Daniels moved out of the bottom four after a 2-0 home win over Matlock courtesy of a goal in each half from Jake Newman. That’s two wins in a row for ‘The Daniels’ who will drop back into the bottom four if midweek results go against them.

Spalding United have an in-form striker in Tom Waumsley. His hat-trick in a 4-0 home win over Goole in Division One South made it six goals in five games and enabled ‘The Tulips’ to break a two-game losing streak. They remain eighth though, three places and three points outside the play-offs.#

March Town United’s scheduled Thurlow Nunn Division One match against Needham Market Reserves was postponed as the latter couldn’t raise a side.
