Two quality goals from Shaquile Coulthirst enabled Posh to overturn a 1-0 half-time deficit and record a confidence-boosting 2-1 friendly win over Championship opposition at the ABAX Stadium.

Posh have two teams in action tonight (July 26). The stronger of the two will be at Championship side Brentford (7.45pm), but there will still be plenty of experience in the team heading for National League outfit Lincoln (7.30pm).

Forrester is expected to be at Griffin Park. He said: “It was a good performance against Leeds, but it was only a start. We need to show that form in all the game before we start the League One season.

“We certainly showed what we can do and what we are capable of achieving. We have set our benchmark now. We moved the ball well and started passing the ball around them, while Shaq scored two great goals.

“We’re all fighting hard to win selection for the first league match.”

Posh host Championship side Barnsley in their last first-team friendly on Saturday (July 30). They travel to Rochdale for their opening League One match on Saturday, August 6.

Posh manager Grant McCann said: “We have a number of games still left in pre-season so we have a few opportunities to get 90 minutes into players’ legs between now and Rochdale.
