Clubs will be allowed 30 per cent or 15 per cent of their capacity, depending on their level of football.

Step 3 side Sports will be in the higher band which means 600 fans could be permitted to watch their Southern League matches which is virtually triple the average gate at the Bee Arena.

Step four sides Spalding United, Stamford AFC, Wisbech Town and Yaxley wil also be able to operate at 30 per cent capacity from August 31.

Social distancing rules will apply.

Sports now expect their Southern League campaign to kick off on Saturday, September 19 with fixtures to be issued on August 28.

Sports could take advantage of the absence of fans at Posh matches. League One games will be played behind closed doors until October at least.

Former Posh star Marcus Maddison has been playing for Sports in pre-season.
