FC Peterborough claim glorious promotion in front of bumper crowd
FC Peterborough celebrated their greatest ever day on Saturday as they claimed promotion to step 5 of non-league football for the first time in their history.
The city side were comfortable 3-0 victors over Stanway Pegasus in their Thurlow Nunn Division One North play-off final.

A record crowd of 725 packed into the Millfield Autoparts Stadium in Dogsthorpe to see Shaz Hamid’s side claim victory.
FC Peterborough raced into a 3-0 lead in the first half thanks to goals from Derrick Dadzie, David Yisah and Vitor Vaz.

They saw out the game despite a late red card for Lamin Gaye, who was sent off alongside two members of the travelling Stanway delegation.
Stanway did not re-appear at full-time to collect their runners-up medals.
FC Peterborough finished fourth in the regular season and made the final after demolishing third-placed Framlingham Town 5-1 away from home. Stanway finished sixth and outside of the play-off places but Wroxham Reserves in fifth were not eligible for promotion.
The club are expected to be promoted into the United Counties League Premier Division and face opponents such as Yaxley, March Town United, Histon and Daventry Town.
