Experienced boss in charge of Peterborough Sports and tricky FA Cup draw for Spalding United

Managerless Peterborough Sports will have an experienced head in charge of a Southern Premier Division Central game at Leiston on Tuesday night.

Mark Duckett, who had been acting as assistant to sacked boss Graham Drury, takes the reins. He has previously worked at Bedford Town and Real Bedford among several other non league clubs.

It’s not clear whether or not Duckett would want the job, but Sports advertised the role on Monday. Drury was dismissed 24 hours after a disappointing FA Cup defeat at lower level AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

The city side are currently on a five-game unbeaten run which has taken them up to 12th and a win in Suffolk this evening would move them above their eighth placed hosts.

Bourne, Yaxley, March Town and Wisbech Town are also in action tonight with city side Netherton United and FC Peterborough hosting matches on Wednesday.

SPALDING UNITED ‘The Tulips’ have been handed a trick third qualifying round FA Cup tie at Bury Town. Bury play a level below Spalding in the Southern Premier Division Central, but they are riding high in third place with six wins and a defeat in seven outings.

Spalding are two wins from a place in the first round proper.
