Drury has signed a contract extension which takes him to the end of the 2022-23 season by which time he hopes to have added another memorable episode to his association with the Daniels.

In previous seasons Drury steered the club to the first round of the FA Cup for the first time in the club’s history and led them to the top of a step three table, also for the first time.

This season Drury’s Daniels equalled a club record run to the fourth round of the FA Trophy where they lost 1-0 to Hereford United.

The current Northern Premier League campaign is likely to be cancelled for the second season in a row later this month. Stamford were challenging strongly for promotion on both occasions.

“I was going to retire at 50,” Drury, who reaches that milestone next month, stated. “But I can’t end on two seasons that didn’t finish. I love it here. I have a great relationship with the chairman, the staff, the fans and of course the players.

“Most of this season’s squad will stay with me. We will probably lose one or two, but I’d never stand in the way of someone who wants to play higher.

“We’ve looked good bets for promotion in the last two seasons and I expect the same next season.

“I’ve had offers to manage elsewhere, but I want to finish my career here. I’ve done over 10 years in three different spells and created some great memories.

“I reckon we can create one more great memory by winning promotion again and establishing ourselves at step three again. That’s the aim of the club and it’s certainly my aim. It’s a great club who play in an excellent stadium. I don’t see why I would want to be anywhere else.”

Drury first managed Stamford in 2004 before moving to Corby. He returned to Stamford in 2012 before moving on to Boston. He came back again in 2015.
