Rare fly-past planned at Burghley Park Cricket Week
As part of the build-up to the finals day for the famous Burghley Sixes competition the club have secured a fly-past from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
However club officials were shocked and delighted to discover the skies above Burghley will be filled with four spitfires and two hurricanes for a rare flight together to mark the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

Hide AdThe planes will go over the cricket ground at about 11.05am when Burghley Park are playing the Gentlemen of Leicestershire.
It may be a little early in the day but the fly-past with also mark the opening of the bar.
Chris Meadows from Burghly Park CC said: “It should be a pretty impressive sight.
“It’s rare to get all planes flying together, I go to air shows all over the world and I don’t think I have seen them all together.”

Hide AdHe explained the club had got lucky with the scale of the flypast because the BBMF will be on its way to an engagement watch by The Queen.
A total of 15 teams have been invited to take part alongside a home team entry in the sixes competition, with three games being played each evening starting at 6pm.
So far Stamford, Castor and Market Overton are through to the next round.
Tonight, Empingham play Ufford Park, Laxton take on Ketton and Newborough face Nassington.

Hide AdThe semi-finals and final take place on the Friday with a live band performing after the sixes final on the Friday evening.
In the last few years a highlight has been the introduction of a real ale festival in the Cabel UK beer tent.
At least 20 real ales are available each day and evening during the week and so it is worth visiting the Park during the week in order to sample the delights of some wonderful real ales from near and far while at the same time watching some exhilarating six hitting during the sixes games.
