CRICKET: Cambs draw after last-day wash-out

The rain came to the rescue for Cambridgeshire yesterday (May 31) in their Minor Counties match against Norfolk at Wisbech.

There was no play on the third and final day meaning the game ended in a draw.

And that could well have saved the local county from defeat as Norfolk finished the second day requiring 100 runs to win with eight wickets intact.

Peterborough Town players did well with Joe Dawborn top-scoring in their first innings with 56 not out closely followed by clubmate Lewis Bruce with 32. Dawborn was also Cambs’ top bowler with 4-31. Bruce was top scorer in the second innings with 41.

Young Harrison Craig (16) from Nassington took 2-21 off his eight overs on the first innings on his Cambs debut.
