CHARITY DAY: The winning team were in the pink

Over £800 was raised from a day's hockey at the SWAN (Syndrome Without A Name) UK Charity Day at City of Peterborough Hockey Club's Bretton Gate base (July 9).

Six teams took part in an an event organised by City of Peterborough player Nathan Foad whose family friend, Tommy James, suffers from the condition.

They all paid £10 for the privilege of wearing a Swan UK T shirt during the tournament and for the use of a couple of inflatable slides.

A team of mainly City players ‘Pink Swan’ won the event beating Sons of Pitches in a well-contested final.

They were presented with the ‘Tommy James’ Trophy.

The amount raised was 25 per cent up on a similar event staged last summer. It’s hoped the event will now become a fixture in the hockey calender.

“It was a great day for a great cause,” said a City of Peterborough spokesman.
