Champion sprinter Jake Berney came close to winning a British title in another sport at the weekend.
The 22 year-old former Peterborough Athletic Club star, who smashed club and county records as a young teenager and topped the UK 100m and 200m UK rankings, took part in the UK Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (UKBFF) British Championships in Nottingham and placed second in the Junior Men’s Physique category.
Berney, who lost three stones in 20 weeks, qualified for the event by winning the North East of England Championship in Leeds in August.
He was the only competitor in his category to be self-coached.
Berney works part-time at the Vivacity Health & Fitness Centre in Hampton, Peterborough.
