Barry’s Clearance Cash & Carry opens to tackle cost of living crisis in Peterborough
This initiative marks a first for the city, introducing a pioneering concept that promises substantial discounts on branded food, beverages, and household essentials.
Barry’s Clearance Cash & Carry opens this Saturday, March 30, 2024,
Opening hours are 10 am to 6 pm on Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10 am to 4pm on Sundays.
Situated in central Peterborough at Unit 3, Vicarage Farm Road, PE1 5TP, visitors should head past Boongate McDonalds, after Big Motoring World, turn onto Vicarage Farm Road and it’s the first warehouse along that road.
It will offer a diverse range of heavily discounted products, including clearance items, short and long-dated goods, and those slightly past their best before date.
Operations manager Cameron Scott Thomas emphasised the importance of challenging misconceptions around food expiration.
He said: "Food doesn’t go from being edible to worthy of the skip at the strike of midnight. We hope to educate the population and save our community pounds off their shopping every week."
Originally starting as a market trader, Barry’s established its first branch in Halifax almost a decade ago and now extends its money-saving mission.
With the ever-rising costs of living, the presence of such an establishment becomes increasingly vital, it says.
The store boasts a wide selection of leading brand cereals, beverages, biscuits, health-conscious options, confectionery, and household goods like detergents and soaps, all offered at prices slashed by up to 75% off typical high street rates.
Daily deliveries ensure fresh and varied stock, catering to the diverse needs of the Peterborough population.
For added convenience, orders can be placed through their website, with nationwide dispatch available.
