Peterborough sees first snowfall of 2016 and there's more to come

While our region is not likely to see the blanket coverage experienced overnight in Derbyshire, “spells of rain, sleet and occasionally some wet snow moving in on a strengthening wind” are forecast for Peterborough today. Maximum temperature 4°C.

Tonight, the Met Office forecast for the city and surrounding area is “rain, sleet and snow slowly clearing, but may linger near the Norfolk coast.

“Clear spells overnight inland allowing a frost to form along with some icy patches. Strong winds gradually easing. Minimum Temperature -2°C.”

Met Office forecasts for Friday: Cold, crisp and frosty, perhaps with local ice patches. Cold but sunny for most throughout, cloudier near the coast with occasional showers falling as a mixture of rain, sleet and snow. Maximum Temperature 4°C.

Saturday: bright and breezy with occasional snow showers. Maximum Temperature 4°C.

Sunday and Monday: mainly dry with lighter winds and some sunshine, but very cold throughout, temperatures barely rising above 4°C with widespread overnight frosts and some freezing fog patches.
