No meaningful rainfall forecast for Peterborough for the rest of July - but the Met Office thinks August could be a completely different story
Peterborough is currently under a hosepipe ban
Peterborough’s scorching hot July looks set to continue over the next two weeks with no meaningful rainfall in the forecast, but there are signs that August could be a different story entirely.
The city has already experienced three heatwaves this year, with temperatures almost hitting 40C at the end of June.
That trend has continued so far in July, and temperatures are expected to remain in the high 20s for the rest of the month.

The UK has now experienced 25 consecutive days where temperatures have exceeded 30C, according to the Met Office.
With no meaningful rainfall forecast for the rest of the months, there appears to be no end in sight for Peterborough’s hosepipe ban.
Current forecasts indicate that several light rain showers could hit the city towards the end of July, but these are unlikely to ease water concerns.
When could it next rain in Peterborough?
According to BBC Weather, some light rain showers could dampen the ground in Peterborough over the weekend of Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26.
Besides that brief respite, the rest of July will be dominated by dry and fine conditions, with temperatures regularly hitting 28C or 29C.
However, there are signs that August could be a different prospect entirely.
The Met Office’s long range forecast, which covers the period between Wednesday, July 29 and Wednesday, August 12, says: “Perhaps a somewhat more changeable period, with the potential for showers or thunderstorms or even some longer spells of rain at times.
Drier and brighter interludes are also likely, perhaps more likely across the south and southeast. Temperatures are likely to be above normal with some hot spells possible.”
