UPDATE: Condition of child seriously hurt in fatal Terrington St Clement crash improves

An investigation is underway into the crash between a silver Vauxhall Astra and a white Mercedes lorry, which happened at the A17’s junction with Station Road, Terrington St Clement at around 2pm on Monday.

Police say the car was travelling towards the junction, while the lorry was on the A17, heading towards Lynn.

The driver of the car, a woman in her 20s from the Boston area was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman has been named locally as Laura Pesterfield. A social media tribute page has been set up in her memory.

Two children who sustained what police are describing as “life-threatening injuries” remain in Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

Police say one of them is still in a critical condition. The other child’s condition has improved but is still serious.

The road remained closed until around 7.30pm, leading to heavy congestion on surrounding routes.

Police have appealed for anyone who saw the crash, or either of the vehicles involved prior to it, to come forward.
