Two people taken to hospital following collision in Peterborough supermarket car park

Two people have been injured - one seriously - in a collision in a Peterborough supermarket car park.

Police, fire and ambulance services were called to Sainsbury's in Oxney Road at 9.10am today.

A car had been involved in a collision with a pedestrian and another car.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said: "We were called at 9.10am this morning (2 December) with reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian in Sainsbury’s car park, Oxney Road, Peterborough.

"Emergency services attended the scene and the pedestrian – a woman – has been taken to Peterborough City Hospital with serious but

non-life-threatening injuries.

"No arrests have been made."

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said; " Crews from Dogsthorpe and Stanground were called to a road traffic collision on Oxney Road, Eastfield at around 9.10am this morning.

"One car had collided with a building in a car park. Firefighters assisted with making the area safe.

"Two casualties were taken to hospital by ambulance.

"Firefighters left the area at around 10.20am."

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service added: "We were called to Oxney Road in Peterborough shortly after 9am today following reports of a collision. We sent two ambulances and an ambulance officer vehicle. Crews treated two patients at the scene before transporting them to Peterborough City Hospital for further assessment and care."

An investigation into the incident is now taking place.

Witnesses should call police on 101.
