Two hospitalised and one arrested after arson attack on Eye house in broad daylight

Two men were hospitalised after an arson attack at a home in Eye yesterday afternoon, Sunday July 31.

Crews from Dogsthorpe and Stanground were called to the house fire in St Olaves Drive, Eye, at 1.41pm.

Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel to extinguish a fire and positive pressure ventilation fans to clear smoke from the property.

Two male casualties were taken to hospital by ambulance to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire was deliberate. A 21-year-old man from Eye has been arrested on suspicion of arson.
