The new cycle lane will be built on City Road as part of a scheme to encourage more people to get on their bike in Peterborough.

Parking has been banned on the road as the works are set to begin.

A council spokesman said: “In order to install the cycle lane we need to suspend the parking bays and make the road one way, as the road isn’t wide enough.”

The lane will run westbound only between St Johns and Northminster.

A pop up lane has already been st up along Crescent Bridge, and has proved popular with cyclists.
