Temporary traffic lights in place to deal with burst water main

Temporary traffic lights are in place on a busy Peterborough road after a water main burst this morning.

The works are in place on St John’s Street near the city centre.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area while works take place.

An Anglian Water spokesperson said: “Our teams are currently working to repair a burst pipe on St John’s Street in Eastgate, Peterborough. The team on site have isolated the pipe to ensure that supplies are maintained for customers throughout the duration of the repair.

“Two-way lights are currently in operation for the safety of our staff and local road users. Rest assured, our teams are working as quickly as possible to return things back to normal.

“We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, and thank local road users for their patience while we complete these vital repairs.” Yesterday a water main burst on a busy road between Peterborough and Whittlesey. The A605 is likely to be closed for up to a week for repairs to take place.
