£2m of new pothole funding for Peterborough

More than £2 million of new funding to tackle potholes is being awarded to Peterborough City Council.

The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority - the county’s mayoral body - said it will receive the additional funds of £2.3 million from the Department of Transport which will be re-distributed.

Moreover a further £179,000 is being handed over by the Department for Education for additional home to school and college transport.

Funding of £10.2 million for potholes, and £876,100 for school and college transport, is also being handed over to Cambridgeshire County Council.

The combined authority said the extra funding for home to school and college transport will be spent on additional buses and coaches during the morning and afternoon peaks, as well as “parking them as ‘hot spares’ across the authority area and despatching them from a central control area to deal with any localised overloading”.
